We’ll explore what creativity looks like, play with creative processes, and exercise our creative muscles. More information at https://millhousemckinney.com/events

Creativity is looking at what is and reimagining what might be. Creativity is much like exercising new muscles -- stretching, pulling, pushing, and sometimes smushing our thoughts into new shapes. Playing is the best idea creation process. Let's PLAY! More information at https://millhousemckinney.com/events

We incorporated MillHouse Foundaton in January 2019, opened our 1500 sq ft space at the McKinney Cotton Mill with five artists studios. We now have two organizations, 16,000 sq ft, 32 individual studios, two photography studios, three changing rooms, conference room, and coworking and workshop space. Our two organizations run festivals and events, speaker series, and weekly workshops. Our newest endeavor: the Atrium Gallery.

Creativity is a muscle that must be stretched and exercised to build flexibility and strength for the ideation process. We need to create brain space to give ideas room to grow, a safe circle to share ideas with, and engage with creative thinking tools.

The Idea Life Cycle is a circular process that begins with the spark, grows or shrinks with reflection, takes shape with the refiner’s fire, and reaches realization with proper resources and support.

Art Meets Words is the blending Art Journaling and Creative Writing to help kickstart the creative process for writers who are looking for a way to kickstart the creative process, and unleash new ideas, emotions or thoughts. This workshop employs art journaling techniques and word-mapping techniques to unleash imagination through visual and sensory language associations.

What Do Words Mean? How often do we believe we’re communicating clearly only to find our words misunderstood, misinterpreted, or ignored altogether? This talk takes a look at the words we speak and examines what message they deliver. This talk is an interactive exploration of our words and phrases to see if what we say is what we mean to convey.

Your goal: turn your dream business into reality. Now what? We’ll walk through the startup basics – from decisions on business name and structure to official documentation and tax requirements.

The road from Idea to Execution is paved with tears and triumphs. This talk explores the nuts and bolts of business startup, including business concept transformation, market research, and resource realities.

Boundaries in business is all about your brand identity, brand promise, and business relationships. Determining what your boundaries are is crutial to protecting them. Learning to say no is a crucial business skill that requires constant practice.

Your brand identity evokes expectations. Your brand promise established client expectations. Your brand image should reflect these expectations. Be intentional how you set table of what you offer.

This fun talk explores common (toxic) behavior types and traits -- some which we may exhibit ourselves. We walk through examples to clarify what these traits look like. The point: if we don't know the poison, we can't identify the antidote. Our goal is to be aware, beware, and intentionally reduce negative influences in our lives (including the negative voices in our own heads). "May the odds be ever in our favor"....
